President Kimberly Hill Knott
With over a decade of experience working in Congress for representatives from the Republican and Democratic parties, Kimberly Hill Knott expanded her engagement in the political arena by assuming the role of Policy Director at Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice (DWEJ).
Dedicated to positioning Detroit as a sustainable global leader, Kimberly led the Detroit Climate Action Collaborative, which was pivotal in developing the city’s inaugural Climate Action Plan. Her contributions in this area earned her recognition with the White House Champions of Change Award, specifically for her efforts in addressing climate change and sustainability issues in Detroit.
As a proficient speaker, Kimberly has passionately advocated for environmental causes as well as faith-based civic engagement initiatives. Her speaking engagements have covered topics such as the Clean Air Act and its impact on low-income and minority communities and strategies for urban centers to prepare for climate change. She has also spoken about the role of Christians in government.
Noteworthy venues for her speeches include The World Bank, Oxford University Alumni Association, Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference, Center for American Progress, the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), Perfecting Church Holy Convocation, and the AME Presiding Elder’s Yearly Conference.
Currently serving as the Founder and President of the Christian Political Leadership Institute (CPLI), a nonpartisan nonprofit organization. CPLI focuses on preparing Christians for public office and to work in government. Kimberly holds the position of President & CEO at Future Insight Consulting (FIC) LLC. At FIC, she specializes in advocacy, voter education, and stakeholder engagement. Kimberly holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master’s in educational administration from Temple University in Philadelphia. She has also earned a certificate in Sustainable Management from Duke University.
In addition to her educational background, Kimberly received a full scholarship and completed Harvard University’s Executive Education Training—Women and Power: Leadership in a New World. She chaired the City of Detroit Green Task Force Climate Action Committee. Additionally, Kimberly served on the External Advisory Boards of the Frederick A. & Barbara M. Erb Institute and the Center for Sustainable Systems at the University of Michigan.
Kimberly is an Alliance for the Great Lakes Board of Directors member. She also serves on the City of Detroit Board of Zoning Appeals. Additionally, she holds the position of Political Relations Director at her church in Detroit. Kimberly resides in Detroit, MI, with her husband and child.
